Simple marriage biodata format: a plain one-page sample you can copy

Not everyone wants a border, flowers or a coloured background. If you are looking for a simple marriage biodata format — one font, bold labels, the facts and nothing else — here are the minimum fields, a complete plain sample and a text version you can paste straight into WhatsApp.

What “simple” means

A simple biodata is not a shorter or lesser biodata. It has the same information as a decorated one, laid out so the facts are the only thing on the page:

• One A4 page with white background
• One font throughout, with labels in bold and values in regular text
• Two columns: label on the left, detail on the right
• No border, clip-art, coloured boxes or background patterns
• A photo at the top right if you use one
• A small religious symbol or line at the top is fine if your family always uses one — keep it small and centred

The minimum fields

If a field in the right-hand column does not apply, remove the row completely. A blank row makes a plain page look unfinished, and on a simple layout nothing hides it.

A complete plain sample

This sample leaves out horoscope, diet and blood group because this family does not use them. Add those rows if yours does.

A copy-paste text version for WhatsApp

Some relatives and matchmakers prefer a message they can read without opening a file. WhatsApp shows text between asterisks in bold, so the labels stand out. Replace the details and paste:

Send the PDF as well when a family shows interest — it prints properly and keeps the photo. For a large group, remove the phone number and write “Contact via group admin”.

When a simple format works better

• Second marriage. Families at this stage tend to want facts stated plainly, and a decorated page can feel out of step. See the guide to a biodata for second marriage.
• Doctors, engineers and other professionals who want the page to read like a clear summary.
• NRI families and candidates abroad, who often send the biodata by email as well as WhatsApp, where a plain page reads like any other document.
• Candidates in their mid-thirties and above, for whom a heavily decorated design can feel too young.
• Matchmakers and bureaus that retype details into their own register or booklet.
• Black-and-white printing, where coloured borders and backgrounds come out grey and muddy.

How to make it

The easiest way is a two-column table with the borders switched off, in Word or Google Docs: labels in the left column, details in the right.
