Hobbies in a marriage biodata: 60+ examples and how to write them
The hobbies line looks minor, but it is often what starts the first conversation between two people. Here is how to choose three to five honest hobbies, word them so they say something, and avoid the ones that work against you.
- List three to five hobbies you actually do — they will come up when you meet.
- Add one specific detail: “reading Hindi novels” beats “reading”.
- Mix one active, one creative and one social interest if you can.
- Leave out “watching TV”, “social media” and “sleeping”.
Why hobbies matter in a biodata
Families use hobbies to picture day-to-day life with you. Would the two of you enjoy the same weekends? Would you get along with the rest of the family? A short, specific hobbies line answers that better than any adjective, and it gives the other person an easy first question when you talk.
How to write hobbies so they sound genuine
- Be honest. If you list trekking, expect to be asked about your last trek.
- Be specific. Add a genre, place or detail: “cooking South Indian food”, “playing cricket on Sundays”, “learning the flute”.
- Keep it short. Three to five hobbies on one line, separated by commas.
- Include one thing you are learning. It shows curiosity and gives an easy topic to talk about.

No. Most biodata formats have one line for “Hobbies & interests”. If yours has two, put things you do in hobbies (painting, cricket) and things you follow in interests (history, technology, spirituality). Otherwise, merge them into one line of three to five items.
